As a vibrant Dive Centre based in Gozo we have a constant stream of funnies to tell and pictures to show, (it tends to be busier during the season - due to more customers - so bare with us). We can also update our news and prices with you keeping you all up to date with what is happening on our sunny little rock in the med.

Gozo Aqua Sports is now a BSAC Resort Dive Centre
New for 2013:
Gozo Aqua Sports has had many accomplishments over the last 30 or so years, building up a great safety record, expanding in to Technical Diving and now we officially cater for BSAC divers.
We have had thousands of BSAC divers over the years and they have always been happy with the service that we have provided. We haven't shouted about it before and some divers who are BSAC qualified may not have realised that they could dive with us being a PADI 5* IDC Centre.
So we have decided to finally shout about it!
Patrick started out as a BSAC diver so under his guidance we have always been able to easily cater for BSAC divers and their different requests. But now is the time to acknowledge our dedication to all divers from other diving agencies.
What do we do when we aren't diving?
All of our staff are busy with our annual maintenance of all of our Scuba Equipment.
Jason and Mark have sanded down all of our scuba tanks, given them a couple of base coats and a couple of coats of blue, then spraying on the tank numbers before putting them back in the protective nets and boots ready for the season to begin.
Its tedious work but vital!
They are just finishing the final ones, much to their relief.

Mean while... John has the task of servicing all of the shop regulators, 30 in total, this involves taking the first and second stage apart, cleaning and replacing any worn parts. It is very fiddly work, and John has has been pulling his hair ;-) out over the amount of tiny O rings he has dropped or left in the sink, but rest assured all regulators are thoroughly checked before being hung back up.

Once the tanks and regulators are done, next job will be BCDS and then checking all the suits and other pieces of kit.
And who said diving was a glamorous job???????

TECREC courses for 2013
Given our new TECREC Centre status, Gail has been working very hard sorting out prices and information for our TECREC diving courses.
We have now published this information all in its glory on our website - see link
http://www.gozoaquasports.com/en/content/diving/technical-diving/
We are excited to be linking up with Wayne Allen who is a very experienced Technical Diving Instructor from the UK for our 2013 season, he will be around for the summer months so if you are looking to take a TecRec course in 2013 why not come and train with us, instead of a dark cold lake we can offer warm, deep and clear waters, perfect for training so if you are curious about technical diving or want to take the next course have a look at our pages and feel free to contact us with any questions.
Now the season is over, although we still have a few hardy divers around, it gives us time to get on with some proper work ;-)
We have all kinds of exciting projects happening over the winter months, we are reviewing all of our systems and policies, servicing all of the shop kit - thanks John for volunteering for that job! and Patrick is busy with the 'big project'.

A wonderful week of diving
Duncan had some great dives last week with a group of people, 2 of whom have been coming back to us for years and this year they bought a couple of friends with them.
Despite it being late October/November for their trip they managed to get in some cracking dives. We have been very fortunate to have had an extremely hot summer which meant the water temperature got very warm, and now with still a lot of unusually warm days, the water temperature is still a very pleasing 25 degrees.
Amongst their logged dives they went to Double Arches (fortunately this time it didn't move! this dive site is very easy to miss!) before the weather turned, they saw lots of Barracuda and Morays.
An afternoon dive to Ras-il-hobz where it seemed that everyone else on the Island had decided to go to as well, but that didn't put off our group who managed to avoid everyone else and get the pinnacle to them selves which is an excellent spot for finding fish.
As you may all know Dwerja is an excellent place to dive and is usually quite busy, but for our group they found them selves alone which made for a great dive. Inland Sea to Blue Hole - a great dive but can be quite a long one, which fortunately for Duncan and his group didn't prove to be a problem as they were all good on air. With excellent vis in the tunnel the group got some great photos which we hope to share with you soon.
With the weather changing again in the groups favour they managed to get to Booming Cave otherwise known as Billingshurst Cave on the north coast where along with great vis and flat calm water they had a fantastic dive. As some of the group were keen photographers they got some cracking pictures of 2 BIG Congers and other pics.
A final dive at Cathedral cave was as magical as ever, conditions were perfect for some amazing photos........ maybe even a good one of Duncan????
I'm sure the group had a great week diving with us as I know Duncan enjoyed his time with Andrea, Andreas, Chris and Jacqueline, although he does warn other dive centres that for them a short dive is 60 mins!!!!

TecRec Center award from PADI
This week we have been awarded the prestigious rating of PADI TecRec Centre, we are the only centre on Gozo to have this award which we are really pleased about.
Padi have recently introduced this award to help divers to find facilities where they can get the very best TecRec training... and we are lucky enough to have been recognised for our excellent training and facilities for Technical Divers.
